Pat has also worked in the mental health field and believes in developing confidence and leadership skills in all athletes. One of his most important ideals - and the founding principle of his team - is that every swimmer is important to the team and worthy of active coaching.

Coach Sally

Sally Gerlach

Head Developmental Coach

While growing up on the shores of Lake Michigan in Racine, Wisconsin, Sally always loved the water. As a freshman, she joined the high school swim team and then joined the local USA Swimming-affiliated club team, Southeastern Aquatics. After her high school swim career was over, she earned her swim coach safety certification and after a chance encounter while lifeguarding in her sophomore year of college, she began her early era of coaching, working with developmental and pre-age level swim with both Twin Cities Swim Team and Edina Swim Team. After starting a family, Sally's passion for coaching was reignited and she resumed developmental age coaching with Great Wolf Swim Team. Sally is a gifted instructor with beginning swimmers, and helps them develop not just their technique but their confidence and discipline. Her favorite coaching moments are seeing her swimmers receive their first meet ribbons and medals, and watching them graduate to higher level practice groups. Sally is an amazing asset to our team!

A lifelong learner, Sally has earned multiple degrees, most recently graduating with a degree in coding, and is the Assistant Director of Institutional Effectiveness for Accredation at Hamline University in Saint Paul.

When she's not at the office or the pool, Sally loves traveling, camping, spending time outdoors, catching a Trampled by Turtles concert, making lefse, and spending time with her husband and son.

Coach Chris

Chris Hydukovich

Senior Coach

Chris has always had passion for swimming with a unique blend of competitive experience and a love for the water that started long before his start to officiating. Growing up in Gilbert, a small town in Northern Minnesota, Chris spent much of his childhood on the lakes, surrounded by friends and family. His deep connection to the water began early, and he continued swimming throughout high school, where he made several state appearances.

In addition to his competitive background, Chris became a USA Swimming Official for Minnesota when his oldest daughter started swimming, seeking to expand his knowledge and reconnect with the sport. He has earned multiple certifications at various levels. His experience as an official has sharpened his ability to assess swimmers' technique and performance, adding a unique perspective to his coaching. This allows him to help swimmers refine their skills while also teaching them the rules of the sport.

His coaching philosophy emphasizes building a solid technical foundation, discovering the joy of swimming, and developing skills that can be applied both in and out of the pool throughout life. Chris is excited to begin his coaching journey, eager to share his knowledge and experience to help swimmers navigate their own paths in the sport.

When Chris isn't at the pool, he's working as an Occupational Therapist, helping those in need, or spending quality time with his wife and daughters, whether it's biking, swimming, or traveling.

Coach Scott

Scott Wallace

Age Group Coach

Scott began his swimming journey at age 6 with Hopkins Swim Club under Coach Debbie and later continued with FoxJets. He swam six years as a varsity swimmer for Eden Prairie High School, and during one of those years he was teammates with Coach Pat, before competing for four years at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Scott has a strong background in teaching and coaching, having taught swim lessons for four years at Interlachen Country Club, along with private lessons and coaching the club’s swim team. His passion for helping swimmers refine their technique and grow in confidence has carried through all of his coaching roles.

Outside of the pool, Scott holds a law enforcement degree from Minnesota State Mankato and currently works as a Financial Crimes Investigator for Wells Fargo. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, grilling, and—most importantly—cheering on the North Star Swim Team, where both of his sons are members.

Scott is excited to be on deck with his kids and the team, and he looks forward to developing strong stroke fundamentals and a love for the sport in every swimmer he coaches.

Coach Debbie

Debbie Doyle

Developmental Coach

Debbie grew up in Hopkins and swam age group and high school through her junior year and then ended her competitive career when she was hit by a drunk driver.  She completed Red Cross classes and became a Water Safety Instructor teaching everything from water babies to Advanced Lifeguard Training for the Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreation Department.

Debbie is a dedicated educator in and out of the pool, with an extensive background in coaching. She's been head coach at Chaska Swim Club, Hopkins Swim Club, Breck High School, Interlachen Country Club, and most recently was lead coach for the silver team at NSAC. Debbie also has an extensive background in education - she holds a BS from the University of Minnesota, an MA in education from the University of St. Thomas, taught elementary education in Wayzata for 13 years, and was recognized as teacher of the year in 1998.

Debbie's background in teaching carries through to her coaching, where she strives to make every swimmer feel valued. She also believes that as a swimmer changes and grows - both mentally and physically - that continual attention to technique is crucial. Debbie's skill at technique instruction is both her greatest responsibility and her greatest strength.

Debbie's interests include training horses - she previously taught horsemanship for Butler Community College in Kansas and won a World Championship in Cowboy Mounted Shooting.
